Horses, Love and Humanity

Chapter 15

No matter who you are or where you live it doesn’t take much awareness to see that when it comes to our future, we – the animal species known as homo sapiens – are all desperately and unequivocally dependent on getting along with each other in order to survive. The solutions to our individual human problems manufactured by the superficial differences of Race, Religion, Ideology or Nationality are no longer capable of solving or defeating our collective global challenges of Climate Change, Drinkable Water, Food Shortages, Over Population or Nuclear War.

Most people are understandably focused and consumed with their own individual lives and don’t often contemplate these issues. However, as we have most painfully learned all it takes is a Global Pandemic to instantly reveal how inextricably connected we all are to every other of the nearly 8 billion members of our species.

Humanity has reached the point where its survival and that of its home, planet earth, will unquestionably require every one of its members to see and treat each other as completely and undeniably the same. Only then will we be able to work together and create solutions that can overcome the challenges that threaten our very existence. Simply put, if we continue to see and treat each other as different, in time... we will all cease to exist.

I believe from everything I have learned from horses, my own childhood and the countless men and women in my Equine Therapy University Classes and Worldwide Clinics, that it is only from one’s mother, father or whoever is raising a child with the knowledge and the skills of healthy loving parenting that can provide children with the self-love, self-worth and self-acceptance necessary to love themselves, obliterate all superficial human differences and see all people as the same.

If we can learn from horses how to raise our children with the same Love found in the Ten Qualities of Equine Herd Dynamics…maybe we can learn how to love ourselves, each other, and our herd of 8 billion we call Humanity.

“A child is a person who is going to carry on what you have started. He is going to sit where you’re sitting, and when you’re gone; attend to those things, which are important. You may adopt all the policies you please, but how they are carried out depends on him. He will assume control of your Cities, States, and Nation. He is going to move in and take over your churches, schools, universities and corporations. The fate of humanity is in his hands.” - Abraham Lincoln.
